In this course, Nurses will learn about herbal supplements as it pertains to clinical practice in order to improve patient outcomes. This course will cover uses, safety, medication interactions and evidence-based mechanisms of action for herbal supplements. Nurses will learn about taking assessments, evaluating for side effects, assessing for medication interactions and special considerations for elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding and pediatric patients. Nurses will learn reputable resources for understanding research and furthering their education in biological based therapies. Case studies will be analyzed to understand practical applications.

Your Instructor
Nurses for Natural Health was founded by Dr. Vanessa Ruiz, a Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Nurse. She began her healthcare career as a nurse and had a desire to learn more natural treatments for her patients. She discovered Naturopathic Medicine and received her Doctorate at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. She continues to work in the acute-care setting as a Nurse, Case Management and maintains a private Naturopathic Clinic, Enliven Mental Health, in Scottsdale AZ. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Ruiz is a speaker at multiple conferences in the U.S. about Integrative Mental Health.
